New figures have revealed the number of people undergoing cosmetic surgery through the NHS in London.
According to the Press Association, 471 patients in England’s capital city have undergone liposuction in the last year, costing the National Health Service £5.7 million. The figures from the NHS Information centre also showed that more than 1,700 people had had nose jobs, tummy tucks and breast reductions on the service. (more…)
Recent figures have indicated that a large number of women choosing breast reduction surgery are doing so to alleviate pain.
While breast reductions are the fifth most common cosmetic surgery procedure in the US, many of the women who opt for the surgery are undergoing it for non-cosmetic reasons. Large breasts - or macromastia - can cause pain, discomfort, rashes and a restriction of activates. (more…)
Cher, one of the most popular female singers of the last half century, showed off her elegant cosmetic surgery enhanced body this weekend at a performance in Las Vegas.
The vocalist wore her iconic black body-suit revealing her excellent 62 year old figure. The skimpy, sequined costume first caused a stir at a concert in 1992 when Cher was 45, but her most recent outing in the body suit shows how successfully she’s been able to turn back time and maintain her youthful silhouette. A recent report from research group Mintel has discovered that almost half of all adults would consider undergoing cosmetic surgery.
The survey also found that tummy tucks were the most attractive procedure, particularly for mothers of young children with three out of five women in that category saying they would consider the treatment. Furthermore, mothers were overall found to be more likely to contemplate cosmetic surgery. (more…)
Cosmetic surgery is a subject that still incites controversy in the UK and there is a huge gulf between the appetites for it here and the US, where people are five times as likely to undergo treatment.

According to the Daily Mail, the number of British women turning towards cosmetic surgery procedures before getting married has continued to increase over the past few months. Some surgeons have noted that procedures have increased by 75 per cent since January, and 60 per cent of those women said they were having the surgery specifically for their wedding day. (more…)

According to a report in the Telegraph, demand for procedures including Botox, dermal fillers, facelifts and nose jobs have all increased in recent months, despite seeing a slight decline in sales during the beginning of 2009. (more…)
While women have been drawn to cosmetic surgery for many years, there has been a recent rise in the number of men seeking procedures.
According to a report in the Mirror, procedures like liposuction and male chest reductions have increased in the past year. In addition, rhinoplasty and eyelid surgeries are also in demand from men.
The numbers have been unveiled in a study from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), which notes that the demand for male cosmetic surgery has risen by close to 300 per cent. Of that, male chest reductions are up 44 per cent, and brow lifts have increased by 60 per cent. (more…)
