UAE joins worldwide rise in male cosmetic surgery

The United Arab Emirates is the latest region to join the trend of increasing instances of male cosmetic surgery.

Like the UK and the USA, more and more men in the UAE are turning to cosmetic surgery to change aspects of their appearance with which they are unhappy. According to the Khaleej Times, cosmetologists are reporting that as many as 20 per cent of people undergoing cosmetic surgery procedures are men, a number far higher than the global average of 12 per cent. Male cosmetic surgery booming

The number of men seeking cosmetic surgery is on the up, according to new statistics from the Harley Medical Group.

In the last 12 months, the number of males choosing to undergo a male plastic surgery procedure has increased by 26 per cent. The survey of over 15,000 patients also revealed that the groups most likely to go under the knife include city workers, civil servants and men who work in politics, law and accountancy. (more…)

Men flock to clinics for cosmetic surgery

While women have been drawn to cosmetic surgery for many years, there has been a recent rise in the number of men seeking procedures.

According to a report in the Mirror, procedures like liposuction and male chest reductions have increased in the past year. In addition, rhinoplasty and eyelid surgeries are also in demand from men.

The numbers have been unveiled in a study from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), which notes that the demand for male cosmetic surgery has risen by close to 300 per cent. Of that, male chest reductions are up 44 per cent, and brow lifts have increased by 60 per cent. (more…)

Men boosting Botox sales as “boytox” on the rise

Cosmetic surgery clinics around the world are seeing an increase in the number of men seeking Botox - or ‘Boytox’ - injections.

A report in the Times notes that there has been a recent sharp rise in the number of men seeking Botox jabs. The report notes that in the United States, about 30,000 American men are having the procedure every six weeks. (more…)

Movie star Chow Yun-Fat has admitted to having cosmetic surgery in order to keep him looking young.

During a recent press conference, 53-year-old Yun-Fat admitted that he has had cosmetic surgery on his eyelids. The Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon star spoke about his surgery at a press conference in South Korea marking the release of his film Dragonball: Evolution. (more…)

More men seeking eye bag removal surgery

An Irish newspaper has reported a recent boom in the number of men seeking cosmetic surgery to remove bags from under their eyes in the country.

A Harley Medical clinic in Belfast claims that men now account for one-third of all their eye bag removal procedures. They added that men visiting their clinic often say they are attempting to keep ahead of their younger colleagues in an increasingly competitive job market. (more…)
